The Energy is Here: A Night of Hope and Action in Lexington
There are moments in every election cycle when a gathering stops being just a meeting and becomes a movement. Last night in Lexington County, we experienced one of those moments.
Looking out at a packed crowd, the energy was undeniable. We didn’t just see a room full of voters; we saw neighbors, advocates, and leaders ready to turn the page and write a new chapter for South Carolina.
The evening began with a powerful slate of local candidates stepping into the arena. Hearing their visions reminded us of a fundamental truth: real, lasting change doesn’t start from the top down. It is built block by block, precinct by precinct, right here in our own backyards by people who have the courage to run.
The Lineup
- David Robinson II for US House of Representatives District 2 (davidrobinsonforcongress.com)
- Edwina Winter for Secretary of State (winterforthewin.com)
- Engle Thompson for SC House District 40 (englethompsonforsc.com)
- Emery K Chaplin for SC House District 69 (emerykchaplinsc@gmail.com)
- Steven J Asbill Jr for SC House District 85 (asbillforsc.com)
- Joe Madge for SC House District 89 (joemadgeforsc.com)
This is the team that will change Lexington, but they can only do it if we knock on the doors, make the calls, and cast the votes.

Our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Jermaine Johnson

Running for Governor of South Carolina, Dr. Johnson (johnsonforsc.com) delivered a message that met the urgency of this moment. He was deeply knowledgeable about the very real challenges facing our state, yet profoundly inspiring about our capacity to overcome them. He didn’t just outline a policy platform—he offered a blueprint for a South Carolina that leaves no one behind. He reminded us that our future is not shaped by waiting; it is built by those who show up.

We left last night’s meeting with full hearts, but more importantly, with a clear mission. Because hope alone cannot win elections. Action does. The momentum we felt in that packed room only matters if we carry it directly to the ballot box.

This is our time.
The South Carolina Democratic Party just achieved something historic: a full slate of candidates contesting every Statehouse, statewide, and Congressional seat. We aren’t conceding a single precinct. We aren’t leaving a single neighbor behind. Read announcement.
“Thomas Jefferson believed that to preserve the very foundations of our Nation, we would need dramatic change from time to time. Well, my fellow Americans, this is our time. Let us embrace it.” -Bill Clinton’s 1993 inaugural address
We just made history. Now let’s make a difference. The Democratic Primary is Tuesday, June 9th (Early voting begins May 26th). Let’s carry this spark forward.
