Meet the Leaders Shaping Lexington’s Future: Vivian Elston
Practical solutions to improve everyday life
As a candidate for the South Carolina House of Representatives, Vivian is committed to bringing people together, listening to different perspectives, and advocating for practical, responsible solutions that strengthen families, expand opportunity, and help communities thrive.
The Root: What is your favorite local spot, tradition, or memory in Lexington County, and how does it shape the way you view our community?
One of my favorite local spots is biking along the Cayce-West Columbia Riverwalk beside the Congaree River. Seeing people of all ages and backgrounds enjoying the trails reminds me why preserving the places that bring us together matters and why investing in our community benefits families for generations.
The Daily Reality: Aside from politics, what is your day job or daily routine, and how does it open your eyes to the actual struggles facing working families in our district?
My daily life includes the same balancing act many families face: working, budgeting, and planning for the future. Through conversations with people from all walks of life, I’ve deepened my understanding of the challenges families in Lexington County experience and our shared desire to maintain stability.
The Fix: If you could fix one frustrating daily problem for families on your block tomorrow morning, what would it be?
I would help families stop having to constantly find new ways to stretch every dollar so they can maintain the stability they’ve worked so hard to build. Everyone deserves the confidence to plan for the future and focus on what matters most in their lives.
The Vision: Why are you stepping up right now when staying on the sidelines would be easier? What gives you hope for the future of South Carolina?
I want people to know that this campaign is about them. I believe good government begins with listening, values people over politics, and works to strengthen the stability that individuals, families, and communities have worked so hard to build.
