Today is National Voter Registration Day. It is time to Plan Your Vote.
You can start by going to scvotes.gov and check your voter registration. With a SC Driver’s License, you can register there online.
- Voter Registration Deadline is Oct. 4.
- Early Voting is from Oct. 21 to Nov. 2 (except for Sunday, Oct. 27). Check with your county election office for your county’s Early Voting sites.
- If you qualify to vote by paper absentee ballot, Oct. 25 is the deadline to request it from your county election office either by phone or in-person. You can’t request it by email. Once you get the application, complete it and sign it and return it right away. Your absentee ballot will then be sent to you. Follow the enclosed instructions to complete it and send it back.
- Election Day is Nov. 5. You must vote at your regular precinct on Election Day. Curbside voting will be available at each voting location for those over 65 or with disabilities.
Make sure that you have one of the allowed picture ID’s:
- SC Driver’s License or SC DMV issued ID,
- Military ID: active duty, retired, contractor or VA Health Care card,
- Passport or Passport card,
- SC Concealed Weapons Permit, or
- SC Picture Voter Registration card.
Finally, go to scvotes.gov and check out your sample ballot. In some counties, there may be several non-partisan races such as school board, or other offices. There may also be local initiatives. Also there is a Constitutional Amendment. You can print your sample ballot, make your decisions on each race/issue, and take it with you when you go to vote. Be an informed voter!
